Daycare Tilburg summer 2016

The spring cleaning at Unikids 2.0 Daycare is finished. Summer is coming to Tilburg and we’re going to enjoy at the nursery. The groups and the building are cleaned, the garden is pruned, new sand in the sandbox and the grass is mowed. Everything smells very fresh and fruity.
Definitely fruity, because this year we have fresh fruits and vegetables at the daycare. The new plants in the vegetable garden are growing well, this year we have tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuce and cauliflower.

This summer we have planned a lot of fun themes and activities. Besides the annual garden party with barbecue for the whole family, we take the children to participate in the national day of mud! Of course we hope for good weather so we can play with the children outside in the garden of the nursery. Do not forget to bring summer clothes and swimsuits, sunscreen (factor 50) we have ourselves. If your child has allergies to suntan let us know.

We also have several themes planned for the summer, eat and tasty we have had, where we have practiced to eat and drink by yourself and we learned the dining words. Now we go to the theme “I and my family”, where we will tell all about the family, crafts together, sing and learn buggy driving. Family photos are welcome! After the summer we go to the theme PARTY!

Most parents have to work a bit harder before the long-deserved holiday will come. Would you let us know when you are going on holiday, allowing the parents who have to work extra hard to swap childcare days.
After the summer holidays, a lot of new children will start, but also children will go to primary school. All children who will become 4 years before the summer vacation starts, can remain at Unikids 2.0 Daycare until primary school start. For the transfer of the children who attend the nursery and go to the primary school in Tilburg, we use the KIJK observation system.

KIJK is an observation system for children up to 7 years, children from 0 to 4 are observed in childcare Unikids 2.0 Daycare and then to 7 years at one of the primary schools in Tilburg. This gives a better connection between nursery and primary schools, which means a warm transfer for the children. Unikids 2.0 Daycare is officially certified since May 2016.

With KIJK, Unikids 2.0 Daycare has a comprehensive observation system and it can frequently and easily record the findings. The results are discussed annually with the parents, but can also more often when the parents or teaching staff have reason to do so.

For the transfer of children from nursery to primary school, the findings of KIJK will be transferred to the digital system “up to group 1”, the primary school can then retrieve the digital data. Unikids 2.0 Daycare will always discuss the observation with the parents of the children and asks permission from the parents if the primary school may view the data. Before it will be released in the system.

You may also notice something about the layout of the groups and have you seen the new toys in the nursery. Unikids 2.0 Daycare and the team are preparing for the certification for the early childhood education program (abbreviation in dutch VVE).

VVE stands for early childhood education. VVE is a special educational program, there is much attention to language and social – emotional, motor and creative development. For certifying VVE, the municipality of Tilburg has a VVE course and a Dutch test for all teaching staff in nurseries, kindergartens in Tilburg and surroundings. Besides the pedagogical staff, there is also a look at the childcare and the groups, here is checked whether there are opportunities to encourage more development. By the certification of both types of childcare it becomes possible to integrate kindergartens into the childcare for the municipality of Tilburg. Unikids 2.0 Daycare and the team are almost all certified, Elles, Corina and Emmely are ready and the rest of the team is ready in September 2016. Then the nursery and the team are officially certified.

VVE has several programs, Unikids 2.0 Daycare has chosen for Uk and Puk because the program suits the best for us, our parents and children. We will use the themes of Uk and Puk, along with the owl that lives with us in his own birdhouse. The Owl and children participate together in all activities and learn from each other. If a child needs extra attention, we can estimate it quickly and respond immediately. In further dealings with the children and parents will be no big differences.
